Trip Overview:

Vienna is one of those capitals that caters to everyone. While many know it for its grand buildings, opera houses and mozart-based mass tourism, it also has the variety that you'd expect from a capital city. It's also a city which holds its natural environment in high esteem. Here you'll find no shortage of eco-friendly options for shopping, eating and drinking.

A beautiful city for any season, Vienna is the perfect short break to stretch your rail adventures a little further. Staying in the student district, you'll notice the many international restaurants, reasonably priced theatres and art galleries that go beyond the classic sight-seeing spots. Venturing out from Vienna you can discover hidden gems that take you out of the urban sprawl - from wine tasting in the vineyards overlooking the city to hiking and biking in Föhrenberg nature park.

Itinerary

Day 1 London-Vienna:

Kick off your short break by rail with a morning Eurostar, departing around 8am. Enjoy a quick ride to Brussels, taking in under 2 hours and arriving just in time for a leisurely lunch.

There's no need to change stations in Brussels - simply disembark the Eurostar and you're ready to board your onward train towards Cologne. It's up to you whether you continue immediately to your destination, or spend a little time in the Belgian capital en-route.

The speedy inter-city train to Cologne covers the (almost) 500km in just over 3 hours, with charming views of Belgian towns before you glide into Germany.

From Cologne you'll travel overnight, waking in Vienna the following morning. You'll get a comfy bed to enjoy the journey, and on board there's a bar and catering. You'll also receive breakfast in the morning.

Day 2-3 Vienna:

Enjoy a full day exploring Vienna. Your hotel will be available to check in from around 2pm, but you can stow your bags in the station until then if you need to. If you'd like to arrange additional activities, simply book at the checkout or send us a message with what you're looking for.

Day 4 Vienna then overnight to Brussels:

You'll have the entire day free, as you will travel overnight back to Brussels.

Day 5 Brussels:

Wake up in Brussels and transfer to your Eurostar to complete the journey.

Start your journey at St Pancras Station, or your closest UK station to connect with the Eurostar terminal.
